92 chevy cateye conversion1/7/2024 ![]() Could do 6lug 14 bolt SF rear, but I like the idea of FF rear, so im spit balling and seeing if it's possible. Planning ahead for a rear end swap (coming soon no doubt, lovely G80 BS) and saying why not and doing a 14 bolt FF rear, but then im stuck with 8 lug rear and 6 lug front. Looking ahead, trading in for a similarly priced ¾ ton would be a money loss, so ill keep her and continue as I always have. Quarter million miles now with swapping parts as I have progressed, always for HD parts, and she isn't really a true half ton anymore persay. Love her, treat her well, but work her hard (farm, ranch, machine shop, DD with 100+ miles daily). Although I kinda should have a ¾ ton, financial situation at the time of purchase dictated I get this half ton girl. Without a life story…truck is getting older. Feel free to call me insane, I'm just spit balling here.įair enough. If it would work, then swapping a 1500HD knuckle would allow the use of any 2500 8 lug hub and therefore the front end would be swapped to 8 lug style. However, the 1500HD still used a 1500 frame and so control arms would be similar and therefore mounting should be the same correct? The question is would that 1500HD knuckle be compatible to a regular 1500 non-HD? Does anyone by chance know if that would work? The 1500HD is a half-ton truck that used an 8 lug hub/bearing with 4 bolt pattern that mated to a 4bolt pattern knuckle. ![]() There are 6-8 lug spacer adapters, but spacers are a terrible idea to begin with so no thanks. In the end, not really a financially smart choice. Some have tried using dodge hubs that required a lot of work and then figuring out caliper and disc setup. The knuckles are different as well so 2500-3500 knuckles cannot just be swapped to a 1500 as they are built with/for HD UBJ's and LBJ's and control arm mounting points are different. 8 lug hubs from 2500-3500 trucks use a 4 bolt pattern while 6 lug hubs use a 3 bolt pattern, so they can't just be swapped. Doing an 8 lug conversion to a half ton is a sketchy topic. ![]()
